This variety is called shahani, Shouny, and Khok in different regions.

Shahani date are one of the most important and abundant crops in Fars province that include about 95% of the palm trees of Jahrom. These dates are very delicate and have a delightful taste.

In date stage, skin is separated from flesh and the color is darker with bright brown color.

It is known as a soft type of date but is consumed dry in some regions. They are colorful, narrow and elongate, and taste sweet.

Shahani date is available in three grades of AAA, AA and A.

Its khalal is sweet, so some amount of its palm fruit is being consumed in khalal stage. This type is a late-ripening. It also has a good processing condition and is used in a variety of food products.
